MANCHESTER UNITED CAPTAIN WAYNE ROONEY 'KEEN TO EXTEND HIS STAY AT OLD TRAFFORD'

Manchesterunited Captain Wayne Rooney is happy at the Old Trafford club and would be keen to extend his current deal. The 30-year-old striker joined the Red Devils in 2004 from Everton and is determined to cement his place in new manager Jose Mourinho's first-choice side.
Rooney has been linked with big-money moves away from United in recent years, while debate has also surrounded whether he is best deployed as a striker or as an attacking midfielder. But the player's agent, Paul Stretford, has dismissed rumours about Rooney's future and talked up the prospect of him extending his deal at the club.

"The very best players who perform at the highest level will always be subject to speculation from the biggest and best clubs," he told talksport of the united captain. "Undoubtedly there has been speculation and undoubtedly there have been enquiries.
"But from Wayne's point of view, he was determined to stay at Manchester United and agree a new contact, and that's evident by the fact that he's still here going into his 13th year at the club."
Rooney is contracted to United until 2019 and Stretford has revealed his client would be happy to extend his association with the club. "Wayne has gone public in stating that he intends to see out his current contract," he said. "Should Man United make it clear they want him to stay beyond [2019], I think we'll be sitting down very quickly and ensuring that will happen."

Rooney has played more than 500 times for United, scoring 244 goals for the club. He is now just five goals shy of the mark reached by United's all-time top goalscorer Sir Bobby Charlton (249), having already overtaken Sir Bobby's England record.
